This Feeling has yet again excelled themselves with a batch of Autumn gig announcements up and down the UK. The Wholls, Shambolics, Himalayas + SHEAFS play dates throughout September. All four bands are undoubtedly some of the best talents on the scene right now and I predict by seeing each of these bands your life expectancy should at least extend by 6 months….
All hail one of the brightest, freshest sounding talents to come out of Sheffield, the mighty ‘Sheafs‘. Catapulting forward at an alarming rate, the five-piece formed at the end of 2015 and released their debut EP, ‘Nobody’s Watching’ in November 2016. The band are renown for their DIY, hardworking and original sound. Propelling an electrical surge of energy onto the crowd with every performance, this band needs your attention!
Check out Connors review of their latest single ‘Mind Pollution’ or the interview we did with the guys at Isle of Wight Festival.
One thing This Feeling excels at is their ability to pick out the naturally gifted live performers, the bands who put on a massive live show as well as playing the best stick in yer head tunes. Well, roll up the Himalayas. Hailing from Cardiff, oozing lashings of charisma and rock ‘n’ roll, Mike Griffiths (lead guitar and vocals), Joe Williams (rhythm guitar and vocals), Louis Heaps (Bass) and James Goulbourn (drums) will drop your jaw with their captivating guitar lines, slinky bass lines and barrage of drums that will leave you breathless.
The Shambolics are growing at an alarming rate with an army of fans and followers. The 4 piece rock n roll band formed at the end of 2015 and are from Dunfermlines in Scotland. Taking influences from the 1950’s guitar based music they base themselves on ‘1970’s harmonies, 1980’s clean guitar chimes and 1990’s melodic anthems’
Their latest single ‘Love Collides’ was released through Electric Honey Records (Biffy Clyro, Belle & Sebastian, Snow Patrol).
This Feeling, Radio X, Jack Daniels & Fred Perry Subculture have also all tipped Shambolics to be ‘Big in 2017’.
Purveyors of superbly crafted, relentlessly infectious feel-good music, The Americas are, how can I put this into words, fucking amazing and by far one of the best live bands I have ever seen. Musically they are flawless, they look like rock n roll stars and their sound is nothing short of phenomenal. You just cannot take your eyes off them, when I watched them perform I could just imagine them on the massive stages. They are the most naturally gifted performers I have ever witnessed, an aural and visual feast. It’s only a matter of time before word spreads and these guys make it to the top, if I had a label I’d be all over these like a rash. Mark my words, an absolute must see!
Bedford-based 4 piece The Wholls are definitely a band I want to rave about, they are without a doubt one of the UK’s brightest talents, which were picked out by BBC R1 as the ‘Best of Reading 2016’. They are just back from a European tour and have recently signed to Sony Music GmbH, the band is clearly soaring at the moment. They have never failed to impress me with their energetic and edgy live performances, as they have a great on stage chemistry as a band and are seriously entertaining. Their indie-influenced rock ‘n’ roll comes with heavy riffing, big hooks and huge choruses that get the crowd singing, dancing and whipped into an absolute frenzy.
Keep your eyes peeled for more from the bands on the run-up here on Northern Exposure, but for now, make sure you grab your tickets below.
