Independent venue, The Leadmill, today reveals that Ocean Colour Scene will be the third act to headline Don Valley Bowl this summer, alongside previously announced Hacienda Classical and George Ezra. Revellers can expect a whole day of spectacular live music with The Coral, The Bluetones, Dodgy, and Sheafs already confirmed to be heading down to support the Birmingham band, Ocean Colour Scene, on Sunday 19 August 2018.
Following their 1989 formation, Britpop veterans Ocean Colour Scene have released nine albums, three of which made the Top 5. In 1996 they stormed to number 2 in the UK charts with their sensational second album Moseley Shoals which spawned four Top 20 singles, including the phenomenal and instantly recognisable anthems The Day We Caught The Train and The Riverboat Song. The Birmingham band has always stuck firmly to their roots to give the fans what they came for, and we’re sure they’ll continue to produce the same amazing music at this year’s Don Valley show.
Indie-rock band, The Coral, returned from hiatus in 2016 with the release of a new album ‘Distance Inbetween’ and the announcement of a UK tour, which promised listeners a new rhythmic sound. Having burst onto the scene in 2002 with their self-titled debut album, The Coral are most notable for the psychedelia fused, happy-go-lucky indie sounds of Dreaming Of You and In The Morning.
It doesn’t stop there, London band, The Bluetones will also be supporting Ocean Colour Scene this August. Reminisce with Slight Return the indispensable 90s Britpop track.
Bring back those pleasant wonderful memories from Summer of 1995 with next band on the bill Dodgy.
Five-piece band Sheafs – who are in our opinion easily Sheffield’s latest prodigies of the indie music scene also join this epic line up. In their short life-span, having been established for just over two years, SHEAFS are gradually building a formidable reputation for their punk-inspired tackling of social nuances. That being said, it’s actually less of a tackle, and more of an outright dropkick.
Samuel Feeley, Promoter at The Leadmill said:
“We really can’t wait for this one. It’s going to be a day full of sing-along anthems! All of the bands on the line-up have played the venue over the years so it’s somewhat of a greatest hits line-up for us as promoters!”
With such an eclectic line-up over the August weekend, The Leadmill’s Don Valley Bowl shows have something for everyone; the weekend is sure to be unmissable for music lovers up and down the country.
