The Black Roses have had a crazy six months with headline shows in Paris and Barcelona, supporting Trampolene at London legendary venue Scala as well as playing the Isle Of Wight Festival for their 50th anniversary. This week saw the four piece continue to hit higher heights with the release of their latest single “El Diablo’.
With an infectious rift, droning guitars and a powerful melody, this new release sees frontman and lyricist Anthony delve deeper and more reflective than before. It’s beautiful stuff, with the opening line “My discipline is worth questioning, I don’t know when I should come back in” Anthony draws you into an on going struggle with night life and how it can cause disruption to the world around you. The song is a blistering amalgam of the 90’s, with its Stone Roses esque lead guitar rifts and dark laced Nirvana grunge guitars – its certainly nostalgia inducing.
A combination of simplistic indie swagger and grungy guitars, I highly recommend this track to anyone, regardless of what their tastes may be. The Black Roses are producing new and exciting sounds without ignoring the past.
