It’s very rare these days that bands take risks, well, Dirty Laces have done just that releasing the immaculately assembled, 7 minute single ‘You’, which is without a doubt an emotional psychedelic masterpiece.
It’s been a year since I was on set of the bands last video ‘Moving Pictures‘ and a year on this band continue to amaze me by going from strength to strength. You see, bands like Dirty Laces can be all too easy to put into boxes and be labelled as ‘just another indie band’ but this track showcases just how diverse and talented as musicians Dirty Laces truly are.
Mellow and invigorating at the same time, the song is like a roller coaster, a blistering amalgam of 70’s rock influences intertwined with modern indie rock. It goes up and down in sound but stays fully captivating throughout. The guitar solos are pure bliss and as any true music lover knows, are essential to a band’s sound as the guitarist can make or break a record, I can safely say they make it, it’s just a perfect marriage of music and lyrics.
The main thing here for me is that you can hear the progression not only musically from the band, but Charlies vocals have become more textured and skilful.
To sum up it’s a completely triumphant rock & roll blast and the world really needs to hear this single.
