Doncaster soul rock trio deliver a pure fire summer single.
Following a play-list spot on XFM as well as receiving airplay on both Radio 1 and 6 Music, this Tarantino inspired freight train is gathering a hideous amount of momentum. Ploughing through cities, building a cult fanbase and kicking festival season off right with a show stealing performance at the Isle of Wight festival, Bang Bang Romeo are proving to be unstoppable.
Along with this momentum comes the band’s latest delicious slice of pop rock perfection in the form of ‘Shame on You’. Opening up with a Zeppelin-esq bass groove, Bang Bang Romeo send a clear message from the get go: this song is perfect for stadiums, and that’s exactly where this band is heading.
Anastasia Walker delivers the lyrics with a sultry blend of helplessness and raw emotion as she sings, “I can’t keep my hands to myself, you’re my favourite worst decision, your no good for my health” Richard Gartland keeps the grove behind the kit whilst the six stringed songwriter, Ross Cameron delivers the rich textures that fill out the chorus to build the 1960’s atmosphere throughout the song.
This infectious chorus reminiscent of Paloma Faith or Stevie Nicks; melancholic lyrics concealed in an anthemic melody. Whilst the relatable topic of a doomed, boomerang relationship rings out, you can’t help but almost smell the hairspray as you envision the Go Go Dancers as the sound of glitter and lust embody the songs classic retro feel.
This could be the young bands break out single as it’s destined for the airwaves. Once thing is for certain, if Bang Bang Romeo continue to release hypnotic pop rock hits like ‘Shame on You’, the future is theirs…
