Paul Weller is set to release new album “On Sunset” on June 19th. The second single from the highly anticipated album is a beautiful track called “Village” which was released earlier this week. The track was written by Weller and his long-time producer Jan ‘Stan’ Kybert. Mick Talbot returns from Style Council on keyboards. Perfectly encapsulating 70’s soul and coupled with reflective lyrics, Weller said of the track:
“It’s a response to being told that we’ve all got to explore the Amazon and climb Everest to make our lives complete, and there’s a guy who says, fuck all that, I’ve got heaven around me.”
“Village” follows the lead single from the album “Earth Beat” which featured R&B artist Col3trane. “On Sunset” is Wellers 1th LP and follows his “True Meanings” which he released in 2018. Luckily for fans, the albums release date only got pushed back a week due to the Covid19 pandemic, with Weller tweeting:
“Lots of albums are moving back to later in the year, but we wanted to hold firm and share with you all in time for summer, hopefully ‘Village’ gets you even more excited.”
