‘Red Stripe Presents This Feeling TV’ Episode #3 features interviews with Kasabian, Luther star Warren Brown, The Amazons, The Horrors, Declan McKenna, and The Shimmer Band who are currently on the nationwide This Feeling #Alive tour. The show is the brainchild of This Feeling founder, Mikey Jonns, who along with Red Stripe are hellbent on injecting a huge dose of excitement into the indie music scene.
Hosted by Radio X presenter Gordon Smart, Luther star Warren Brown discusses his new Sky One show Strike Back – an SAS action-packed drama that is due to premiere on Sky One this month. He tells Gordon of his stunt exploits while out filming the show in Budapest, Warren also talks about his passion for great music, jokingly reminds Gordon that he tipped him off about Jack Garratt and also discusses his experience of the eclectic Hungarian live music scene. He speaks of watching Kasabian, Foo Fighters and even Hans Zimmer but laughed as he said:
“The absolute highlight for me was getting to see Natalie Imbruglia perform though. I know that’s not rock ‘n’ roll but she was just unreal.”
During The Amazons interview with Gordon, frontman Matt Thomson is quick to highlight the perks of being part of a band with a growing global reputation:
“We’ve actually just come back from touring in South Korea and Japan. We’re from Reading originally, which most people look outwards from so it’s been fun to go on a bit of an adventure this summer.”
Episode #1 saw guests The DMA’s, Carl Barat, Slaves, Black Honey and Tom Grennan (Liam Gallagher even dropped in) Episode #2 saw The Kooks, Mick Rock, Sundara Karma, Ratboy, Bang Bang Romeo and Abbey Clancy and helped attract almost 150,000 combined views on YouTube.
The atmosphere at the filming and the after show was really magical and one typical of This Feeling, a none stop laugh – Nambucca was full of familiar faces, all out in force showing their support. It’s mega to be surrounded by like-minded press, promotors, brands, music fans and musicians who all share the same vision, all working together to bring guitar music back to the forefront of the music industry.
I caught up with Zachery Stephenson to ask him to tell me a little about the venue Nambucca that hosts the show, he told me “We’re are extremely proud to be the home for Red Stripe presents This Feeling TV, since Nambucca’s first incarnation as a staple of the mid-noughties indie scene driven by The Libertines to the present day hosting shows by Wolf Alice, Fat White Family, Mac DeMarco, We Are Scientists and more, Nambucca has proven itself to be the most resilient venue in London, with more comebacks than Rocky Balboa. Even a devastating fire in 2008 couldn’t put the final nail in the venue’s coffin and now it proudly aims to host live music seven nights a week. With a large stage with five monitors, full band backline, state-of-the-art sound and lighting and a comfortable green room, Nambucca is the perfect place to host events and TV shows alike.”
With one final show left to be filmed this year, the programme is expected to continue picking up real momentum into 2018 and onwards.
