We sadly put away our Hunter wellies, cutoff shorts and glitter as the 2017 major festival season came to an end last September. As always, there were some amazing festival moments and standout performances by top bands – but who takes the Northern Exposure crown for the best festival of 2017?
BEST FESTIVAL: TRNSMT
In its debut year TRNSMT was without a doubt the best festival of the year for the team at Northern Exposure, with impeccable organisation and a flawless line up, the whole weekend was nothing less than phenomenal.
After the announcement that ‘T in the Park’ would not be happening in 2017, the city of Glasgow stepped up and music filled the air across the fields of Glasgow green with some of the biggest and hottest acts in the music industry. For a new festival, TRNSMT showed how it was done, with DF concerts delivering in full force with Radiohead, Kasabian and Scottish legends Biffy Clyro blessing the main stage with their presence for a headline set.
Amongst these legends across the weekend the main-stage also played home to Catfish and the Bottlemen, The 1975, Rag N Bone Man, The Kooks, the up and coming Tom Grennan and Mossely’s finest apocalyptic sprautrockers, Cabbage.
Every nook and cranny across the green featured performances by hot new indie, dance and alternative acts – all day and all night. This Feeling were one of the promoters that brought the hottest and upcoming bands, showcasing them all on the Jacks Rocks stage. Over the weekend the not to be missed list included the prolific Bang Bang Romeo, the promising Brighton 5 piece White Room, the epic Anteros, Brummy rockers Broken Witt Rebels, the outstanding Trampolene, and adrenaline fuelled Blackwaters. All full of boundless energy and unique potential it made the weekend even more unforgettable.
TRNSMT are back this year, over two weekends. Key names feature in their latest line-ups announcements and there’s more than enough music variety for everybody. Headliners Liam Gallagher and Stereophonics join acts including The Script, Courteeners, James Bay, Wolf Alice, Krept x Konan, Jessie J and J Hus.
We expect TRNSMT to go from strength to strength and 2018 is shaping up to be two of the hottest weekends next summer.
Do not miss it!
